• Are you interested in increasing survival from cardiac arrest in your community?

• Have you ever wanted to know how effective your healthcare providers are at CPR?

• Have you always wondered where you area or agency falls with regard to cardiac saves/ROSC?

• Do you have an interest in conducting a community initiative that places AEDs and trains bystanders in first response to cardiac arrest?

Michigan Rural EMS Network has received federal funding from the Office of Rural Health Policy that, through its MiResCu initiative (www.mirescu.org), allows for various levels of support and assistance to Michigan communities. MiResCu (Michigan Resuscitation Consortium) can help you gather and analyze the data, provide access to AEDs, and training in High-Performance CPR (HP-CPR) that will provide the answers you need.

Level of Support: Various levels of support are available, and may even be provided free of charge to eligible communities. MiREMS will distribute AEDs and provide support based on grant criteria, need, and community readiness. Communities selected for a MiResCu Community Award will receive free training, data support, and AEDs. Other communities will have access to free technical assistance, discounted training, and use of training equipment.  Communities that prefer a limited amount of help, or do not meet eligibility guidelines, will be able to purchase training and materials at a reduced cost.

Awards and Eligibility: Three award cycles will take place from 2015-2017. During this time a minimum of 30 communities will be selected for a MiResCu Community award (approximately 10 per cycle), and 24 additional communities will receive assistance through other support programs. Any government or nonprofit organizations can submit an application. The MiResCu Community concept is based on a system wide change initiative. Development of a collaborative community team is a requirement of the MiResCu Community Award, and is strongly encouraged for other levels of support.

Application Process: Apply by going to http://www.jotform.co/form/51770525231853 to access the online application. In the application, you will be asked to review the four levels of assistance and elect the option that best fits your community’s need, readiness, and level of commitment. The deadline for applications is Monday, November 2, 2015. Awards will be determined by December 1, 2015, and will be presented at the 2015 EMS Summit in Frankenmuth, MI on February 20, 2016. If you have questions, please contact Mark Becmer: mark@miresu.org or (231) 350-3447.
